Baking without an oven - part 2

Well yesterday we posted an interesting article on baking without an oven.  The article focused on the old school "Dutch Oven".  Very nice, I have fond memories of the Dutch Ovens when I was a kid in scouting and we spent a lot of time out on camping trips.  Well today we are going to talk about a different type of cooking without an "oven".  I personally have these and I found it fascinating and it does in fact work and better than I expected.  It is a solar oven.   Yes, it works great in the winter too!  Just need sunshine.

You can find one here:
All American Sun Oven

Here is the link to the article where they are showing off their solar oven.  I will have to do a video on using ours and show you what it can do.  All you need is some sunshine and a little time.  These ovens easily reach 250-300 degrees and slow roast meats, soups, bake breads, and just about anything a creative mind can come up with.  I am going to see if I can regulate the temps well enough to try dehydrating in one this year and see how that works for me.  Lots of things to try with this.  I hope you like the article.  These really are fun and can be quite useful.  No fuel needed.  No smoke, no fire needed, hardly any mess to cleanup... Well except when I am around! LOL

This may be something you will want to add to your tools that you use on your homestead!

Solar Cooking in a Sun Oven

We will hopefully get some time to show you how ours works in a video.  I think for the money they are a little spendy.  I think a resourceful person handy with some tools could make something like this for a fraction of this cost.  It most certainly would be a worth while project for those that don't want to plunk down this kind of money.  These things have gone up quite a bit in cost since we bought ours.  So once again... Repeat after me... There is no inflation....  There is NO Inflation... :-D

Take care, and God Bless,
Longsnowsm
